7 Month Recap in 7 Days: Our March Myrtle Beach Vacation

March was filled with ups and downs.

The up being Fisch and I took a spring break roadtrip to visit our friend Joe in North Carolina and then made our way down to Myrtle Beach for a couple days.  The trip was almost derailed, though, by a series of events that all happened in the week before we departed.  It started with my e-mail being hacked and my debit card number being stolen, which may or may not have something to do with my e-mail being hacked, and ultimately being left debit cardless for vacation.  The whopper of them all, though, was at 7:00 the night before we to leave at 6am, the brakes on my Lil' Focus, the car we were planning on taking on our roadtrip, went out! Bad things happen in 3's right?  I was ready to call the whole thing off but luckily Fisch calmed me down, told me everything would be ok, we would deal with my car when we got home and we would just rent a car.  So that's what we did (I have to say, it was my first time renting a car and felt very grown up doing so).  After everything had settled down I realized how lucky we were that my brakes went out BEFORE we left instead of while we were driving through the mountains or something. Lil' Focus didn't earn another bumper sticker but at least we didn't die.

We ended up having a wonderful time. I'm so glad we went.

WW: Spring Break Cruise: Day 5 - Miami, FL

The last day of our vacation we docked in Miami and were off the ship by 9:30.  Since we couldn't check into our hotel until the afternoon we decided to do the touristy thing and hop on the big red bus!  I always thought they would be kind of lame but it turned out to be so much fun.  We learned a bunch of stuff about Ocean Dr. that we didn't know when we stayed there the first night, we hopped off the bus in Little Cuba to get a bite to eat, and we toured downtown Miami.  All in all it was a great way to end a fantastic vacation :)

WW: Spring Break Cruise Day 4: Key West, FL

On day 4 of the cruise, we docked in Key West, FL.  I loved it!  We walked the length of Duval St. and found ourselves at the Southern most point of the U.S. 90 miles from Cuba.  Megan and I spent the rest of the day sunning poolside, drinking drinks that came with little umbrellas, and watching the "sexiest man contest". The night we participated in one of the most fun group scavenger hunts ever with challenges like "5  belts linked together" to "a guy dressed up in a bra, women's shoes, lipstick, and a handbag".  So much fun!

WW: Spring Break Cruise Day 3: Coco Cay, Bahamas

On the third day of our cruise we docked at the privately owned Royal Carribean island of Coco Cay.  It was supposed to be a total beach day but unfortunately it was overcast and windy.  It turned out to be ok though because I got to take a nap in a hammock (one of my vacation goals), get some good pictures of the beautiful water, and danced the night away with close friends at the poolside party that night.  Also, we may not have gone to bed until 4:30am...which may have been my first time staying up that late in years!

Wordless Wed.- Spring Break Cruise Day 2: Nassau, Bahamas

     

When we woke up the first morning on the cruise ship we were docked in Nassau, Bahamas!  The day was spent exploring downtown, going on a sailing and snorkeling excursion (so awesome!), and dancing the night away at Senor Frogs.

Cruise Vacation Day #1

Back from vacation! It was a fantastic week of friends, sun, yummy drinks, all you can eat buffets, reading, and making memories.  

Day 1 included: pictures by palm trees, staying the night on Ocean Dr. at the Beach Paradise Hotel, a walk on the beach, boarding the boat "Majesty of the Seas, and setting sail for the Bahamas!

I'm leaving on a Jet Plane....then a Boat!

As of 3:30 yesterday I was officially on spring break (definite perk of being a teacher)!  Tomorrow I fly to Miami, meet up with a few of my friends from college, and on Monday we board a cruise ship bound for the Bahamas!

One thing I have been fretting over the most is packing.  I refuse to pay $50 to check a bag so I was determined to fit everything I needed into a carry-on.  I am kind of a natorious over packer...but I like options.  Luckily, I found this awesome link on Pinterest that taught me a fabulous trick. ROLL your clothes!  Totally worked!  In my carry-on I have:

8 dresses (including 1 Maxi)

6 tank tops

3 t-shirts

1 skirt

1 pair of shorts

leggings

2 sets of PJs

3 swimsuits

Underwear

2 scarves

1 belt

2 pairs of Sandals

1 pair of heels

jewelry

non-liquid toiletries

Not bad, not bad....
