Mini Milwaukee Vacation

Last weekend Fisch and I journeyed to Milwaukee on what ended up being a wonderful mini vacay.

We both went to college in Milwaukee and have a lot of friends still in the area.  It was so much fun to see them and pretty much just play the whole weekend by ear seeing as many people we could.

Friday night we went to an Admirals hockey game/ Dierks Bentley concert with our friends Josh and Aimee.

Saturday morning we went out to brunch at the Honey Pie Cafe in Bay View. Delicious food, decadent pie, and bloody marys that come with their own lil meal!

We met up with our friends Jenny and Steve in the afternoon and browsed the mall for a bit.

Saturday evening Fisch and I headed to the East Side, our old stompin' ground, to hang out with a couple of Fisch's old roommates.  Things I learned...music is WAY too loud at the bars we used to go to, if there is a bowl of popcorn next to me I WILL eat the whole thing, I am pretty awesome at darts, and McChicken sandwiches at 1 am make me sick.

Sunday we headed up to Port Washington to visit Fisch's family and have lunch with some friends and their babies up there.

I had a serious case of the Mondays today and I think it's because I just didn't want the weekend to be over.

Wordless(ish) Wednesday: Some Serious Sledding

Last Friday, we finally got a chance to go sledding at the park near our home.  There is this gigantic hill there that I have been wanting to sled down since we moved in in August.  It was pretty much just as awesome as I thought it would be.  We obviously need to buy higher quality rides for this hill, though, because Friday we started with three and ended the night with only one intact.

Fisch's Day

We didn't do a whole lot for Fisch's birthday weekend.  Though we did get to try a lot of new resturants.  We finally decided to try Jamerica, a Jamacian place on Willy St., on a recommendation from my aunt and uncle.  It is a cute little eclectic place with a tiny menu and fantastic food.  They also had key lime soda which is my favorite.  As a late night "snack" we tried burritos from La Bamaba's.  Pretty good for an "open until 3 am" place.  On Sunday we got together with some friends to watch the Packer game.  We went to a little bar in Jefferson that had the best steak sandwiches...and that, and of course the company was the best part of that night. Packers lost. I'm over it. Fisch is still grieving.

10. He watches New Girl with me and likes it just as much…maybe even a little more.

11. The fact that for our last movie night he chose to watch “Tangled”.

McFisch in Chicago

Last Weekend Fisch and I went to Chicago to check out my cousin Maren's new apartment and to help her move some stuff in.
We spent hours organizing, arranging, creating, decorating and turning her living room that pretty much looked like this...
Into a cozy little put together space.

To celebrate our accomplishments we headed out to a bar near by where I spotted these awesome chandeliers!
On Sunday we explored Chinatown and got some lunch.
It was such a good, productive weekend but the best part is now Maren lives only 3 hours away after years of being an ocean away from me.  She is my closest friend, like the friend who knows everything about me and who I share everything with... so I really couldn't ask for anything better.
No plans yet for this weekend but it is Fisch's Birthday so hopefully some crazy fun ensues!

Wordlessish Wednesday: The Last Evening in 2011

To bring in 2012 we chatted, laughed and danced with good friends at the Old Fashion on the Square...while drinking Old Fashions of course.  A great way to bring in the new year :)

Our Last Week of 2011

Back to work tomorrow for Mr. Fisch and me.  Although these 11 days have seemed to fly by Christmas also seems like ages ago already.  Here's a quick recap of Christmas and the week afterwards:
We spent Christmas eve at Fisch's parent's house.  We went to church, ate lots of food, drank Grasshoppers, and each got to open one present.  It makes me happy Fisch's family does the whole one present thing on Christmas Eve, too.  The next morning we woke up, opened the rest of our gifts and headed to my parent's house.
Hung out with the family and ate lots of food.  For the first time in 15 years we had a baby present so lil Wilson pretty much stole the show and provided much entertainment. It was so great to see almost the whole family all in one place.  The Packers winning agaisnt the Bears was just the cherry on top of a great day.
... And then I got sick with the worst cold I have ever had. Like my head felt detatched from my head, my throat felt like it was on fire and I was coughing up my lung kind of sick...for the next 4 days.  Yup pretty much spent my break laying on the couch, watching TV and napping.  Fisch luckily did not get sick and tried his best to keep my comfy while the rest of the time avoiding me and my germs. Not the best way to spend winter break but it did serve as a good reminder to take care of myself so I don't have a repeat on Spring Break.
Thank goodness I felt well enough on Friday so we could go hang out with some old friends at their annual Friends Holiday Party. It was so nice to see everyone and have a little fun after days of not even going outside.
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and break (if you were lucky enough to get one)!  I'll be back with pictures from New Years Eve soon :)
