Fill in the Blank Friday

1.  My first memory is    ... I have a lot of random memories from when I was little and sometimes I wonder if I actually remember or if I just think I remember because there are so many photos from when I was little. My first vivid memory, though, is from when I was 4, the day my Grandpa had his heart attack. It's weird because I can remember all the things from right before it happened, playing in the snow, my grandpa pulling me in a sled waving to neighbors, and starting to build a snowman.  It's like I knew it would be the last time I would get to see him awake and smiling.

2.  My first love was  the boy at my babysitters when I was in kindergarten  .

3.  My very first favorite color was   I am pretty sure it was blue...though my first well known favorite color was/still is sea foam green.

4. The first time I really felt like a "grown-up" was when     When I was in kindergarten and we were doing a worksheet where you had to fill in little answer bubbles.  I remember thinking "wow, this is like college, grown up work!"... I really haven't felt like a real grown up ever since ;).

5. The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is  hit snooze...then I finally get up and get ready on auto pilot until I truly wake up.

6. The first CD (cassette tape, record, etc...) I ever bought was   Spice Girls! Not gonna lie, I got super excited watching them at the closing ceremonies of the Olympics.

7.  My first car was  a Cavalier convertible I got for my 17th birthday that my boyfriend, at the time, crashed...2 months later. Yeah...not good on so many levels.

W(ish)W: Pottery Class

This summer, Fisch and I took a pottery class every Wednesday night.  Somehow I made it all the way through art school without ever having thrown a pot on a wheel.  It has been a goal of mine to learn how.  I have to say... didn't work out so well in the beginning.  Fisch and I both left the first class frustrated.  I have done a whole lot of hand building in my day and thought throwing on a wheel would come naturally.  Not so much...as you can see from my first mug.  I thought it was a good lesson, though, in how my students might feel in my class when they don't understand something right away.
Luckily, Fisch and I stuck with it and after a little a lot of practice we ended up with some relatively successful pieces.

A Weekend Away

With Fisch gone in CO last weekend, I spent some quality time with my good friend Brye at her family's lake house.  It was a chilly but gorgeous weekend on Kusel Lake.  Autumn is popping up everywhere. From the roadside stands selling pumpkins and apples to the leaves changing to brillant reds, oranges, and yellows.
I love it :)

Our Labor Day Weekend

Yes, I am a week late on this post.  I am behind on everything due to last week being the first week of school.  It is always exhausting trying to get back into the swing of things.
Fortunately, I had sometime this weekend to get caught up, so here are some pictures from our last weekend of summer!

We...
  • Met our friend's Jenny and Steve's, new puppy, Clay.
  • Enjoyed our friend Megan being in town from Kansas City, MO.
  • Went on a Beer and Brat Edelweiss Cruise in Milwaukee.
  • Observed Harley Fest in downtown Milwaukee.
  • Drove past my old house in Milwaukee. Hard to believe it has been 5 years.
  • Went to Taste of Madison and ate fried cheese curds...among lots of other things :)
