7 Month Recap in...8 Days: July 12th I turned 27

Ok, so I couldn't quite fit 7 months into 7 days.  I didn't want to cut this post short though because my 27th birthday was pretty awesome.
It didn't involve cake or balloons but it did include a crown and an arm full of paper bracelets from my summer school students, a camping trip with friends, a tube ride down the river and even a surprise visit from one of my best friends, Megan, who drove up from Kansas City for the occasion!!

P.S. Did you know that you can put your smart phone in a ziplock baggy and you can swipe right through the plastic?!  It totally works...until the zipper gets in the way ;)

W(ish)W: Summer Vacay to Kansas City, MO

A few weekends ago, my friend Brye and I packed our bags and flew to Kansas City, MO to visit our good friend, Megan. It was a much needed, fun filled girls weekend.

Things We Did This Weekend...

- Entertained Fisch's old roommates who came to town Friday night. Which included happy hour at Pisan's, Das Boot at Essen Haus, exploring State St., and even a ride on the cow at State St. Brats...which is apparently frowned upon...

- I took a belly dance class with my friend Alicia.  Don't think professional belly dance is in our future but it was fun!

-Alicia and I then did some browsing...and eating at the Capitol Farmers Market

-Took a nap.

-Went to see "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World" at the budget theater.  Fisch and I agreed we were happy we only paid $6.  The blue raspberry icee and popcorn was delicious, though.

-Cozied up with some blankets and pillows in the back of Fisch's truck on a random country road to watch the meteor shower.

-Fisch fixed my car for the umpteenth time.

- Enjoyed the closing ceremonies of the Olympics...what are we going to do with our time now?!

What did you do this weekend?? :)

Last weekend my parents threw Fisch and me an engagement party at their home in the Lake Geneva area.  The day was filled with good food, drinks, yard games, chatting, roasting marshmallows until midnight, and even some free fireworks from a different party down the lake! It was so fun having our families meet and having our closest friends celebrate with us.  We had a such a great time and are so thankful to have so many wonderful people in our life :)

Monday

Fisch and I went on his families annual camping trip last weekend.  I guess we were having so much fun that I forgot to take any pictures!  Oh well.

Here is where I will be today...and probably the rest of the summer.  This is one of my new art rooms.  I think I have some work to do before the beginning of the school year...

4th Annual Birthday Camping Trip

Last weekend Fisch and I went on my annual birthday camping trip with a few friends.  This year we went to Sweet Minihaha campground and tubed down the sugar river.

Like always it was a pretty crazy time...but it was mostly mother nature that was crazy.  Our first night there it rained, not surprising since it always does the first night on this camping trip but crazy because we hadn't had rain in a month and a half.  We think it may have been because of the rain that a big branch fell on one of our tents almost squishing one of our friends.  Talk about scary!  Shortly after, the raccoons came.  They preferred the spicy hot Cheezits and we were glad everything else was in the car.  The fun didn't stop once morning came when we woke up to a herd of cows on our campsite!  Apparently they walked across the river and couldn't find their way back.

The rest of the weekend was filled with summer shandy, squirt gun fights, and a 5 hour tube ride down the river (still kicking myself for forgetting my water camera).  It is a tradition I look forward to every year and hope it continues for many birthdays to come.
