7 Month Recap in...8 Days: July 12th I turned 27

Ok, so I couldn't quite fit 7 months into 7 days.  I didn't want to cut this post short though because my 27th birthday was pretty awesome.
It didn't involve cake or balloons but it did include a crown and an arm full of paper bracelets from my summer school students, a camping trip with friends, a tube ride down the river and even a surprise visit from one of my best friends, Megan, who drove up from Kansas City for the occasion!!

P.S. Did you know that you can put your smart phone in a ziplock baggy and you can swipe right through the plastic?!  It totally works...until the zipper gets in the way ;)

WW: Happy Birthday Adriana!

Last Saturday, we celebrated Fisch's sister, Adriana's, 18th Birthday.  It made me feel old since I remember when Fisch and I first met we bonded over having little sisters in 4th and 5th grade.

Happy 18th Adriana!

A Birthday Get Together

Sunday, we celebrated my Grandma's 90th Birthday.  It was such a good day in so many ways. Beautiful October weather, yummy food, and reconnecting with family who I have not seen in ages.

Hopefully there will be many more birthdays to celebrate together :)

Happy Birthday to My Grandma

This beautiful lady turns 90 today...of course she would yell at me if she knew I just told you that.

My grandma is one of the people I love most in this world.  She is one of the strongest, fiestiest, prettiest, most loving women I know and I hope to be like her in many ways when I grow up.

Happy Birthday, Grandma!

4th Annual Birthday Camping Trip

Last weekend Fisch and I went on my annual birthday camping trip with a few friends.  This year we went to Sweet Minihaha campground and tubed down the sugar river.

Like always it was a pretty crazy time...but it was mostly mother nature that was crazy.  Our first night there it rained, not surprising since it always does the first night on this camping trip but crazy because we hadn't had rain in a month and a half.  We think it may have been because of the rain that a big branch fell on one of our tents almost squishing one of our friends.  Talk about scary!  Shortly after, the raccoons came.  They preferred the spicy hot Cheezits and we were glad everything else was in the car.  The fun didn't stop once morning came when we woke up to a herd of cows on our campsite!  Apparently they walked across the river and couldn't find their way back.

The rest of the weekend was filled with summer shandy, squirt gun fights, and a 5 hour tube ride down the river (still kicking myself for forgetting my water camera).  It is a tradition I look forward to every year and hope it continues for many birthdays to come.

Turning Twenty-Six

Last Thursday I turned 26 years old.  It was a pretty laid back day.  Taught summer school in the morning.  Had the big fashion show for my UpCycle Fashion class.  I spent the afternoon reading in my new hammock from Fisch, relaxing, and shopping.  I chose sushi for my birthday dinner so Fisch took me to Muramoto at Hilldale.  We even lucked out and got an outside table.  I know I am getting older because there was no cake or candles...but I did treat myself to some mint chocolate chip custard from Michael's :)

Fisch's Day

We didn't do a whole lot for Fisch's birthday weekend.  Though we did get to try a lot of new resturants.  We finally decided to try Jamerica, a Jamacian place on Willy St., on a recommendation from my aunt and uncle.  It is a cute little eclectic place with a tiny menu and fantastic food.  They also had key lime soda which is my favorite.  As a late night "snack" we tried burritos from La Bamaba's.  Pretty good for an "open until 3 am" place.  On Sunday we got together with some friends to watch the Packer game.  We went to a little bar in Jefferson that had the best steak sandwiches...and that, and of course the company was the best part of that night. Packers lost. I'm over it. Fisch is still grieving.

Happy Birthday to Fisch!

Love this boy <3

26 Things I Love About Jesse on His 26th Birthday…

1. With a drop of a quote he can keep me giggling.

2. He builds me fires in our fireplace to keep me warm and cozy.

3. He fixes my car to keep it running so I can run it into the ground.

4. The way he shakes his tush.

5. His laugh.

6. He cares about his friends and family.

7. The little songs he makes up about…everything.

8. Trying new things doesn’t scare him (Eat that mystery tentacle thingy at Chinese Buffet? Sure!).

9. He took me kayaking at the Apostle Islands for my birthday.

10. He watches New Girl with me and likes it just as much…maybe even a little more.

11. The fact that for our last movie night he chose to watch “Tangled”.

12. I moved to Madison to be with him and it was the best move I have made.

13. The way he makes Penny fly around the house.

14.    He liked the movie “The Help”.

15. The fact that I think he will make a great husband and dad someday.

16. The way he lays his head on my chest so I can scratch it.

17.    His family.

18. His impression of Ellie from “Up” (“Adventure is out there!”).

19. He makes me workout harder when we go to the gym together.

20. He’s always up for a blue raspberry Icee at the movie theater.

21.    He encouraged me not to give up when I was scared I wouldn’t find a teaching job in Madison.

22. He wants to live in the country with me in the future.

23. He made an effort to see me every weekend when we lived apart.

24.    He takes Flintstone gummy vitamins…ok, I do, too.

25.    His abs. ‘Nough said.

26.    The fact that he’s been mine for the last 5 ½ years☺

Wordless(ish) Wednesday: A Belated Happy B-Day to Brye

One of my best friends, Brye, turned 26 on Sunday.
Happy Belated Birthday Miss Brye!

(Of course I already told her Happy Birthday on her real birthday but it's a belated one on here.)

A picture from Brye's 80's theme birthday party last year at which we got to meet Mr. Belding from Saved by the Bell!
